Wilde, der Mann mit den traurigen Augen

“Wilde, der Mann mit den traurigen Augen”
Klaus Händl Rolle: Emil; Tiroler Volksschauspiele. 2005

“Wilde, der Mann mit den traurigen Augen” (“Wild, the man with sad eyes”) from Klaus Händl was the play with the wildest direction I ever had. I am not a particular fan of theatre that puts a strong emphasis on exaggeration (especially as practiced in German theatre), nor on formalism combined with a very rigid directional structure. However, I did learn a lot, and I did also enjoy the work of living in a world of dramatic, fairy-tale madness with a fatal connection to reality. Klaus Händl who won a lot of playwriting prizes in Germany, is definitely “something special.”
